The model maker has created a remake of The Simpsons: Hit and Run in Unreal Engine 5. According to its creator, they completed it in less than a week. The original Hit & Run isn’t one of the best GTA-style sandbox games, but it’s still the best Simpsons game. Fans can now experience what the modern version looks like.

Modder and YouTuber Reuben’Reubs’ Ward shared clips of how the game was remastered on his YouTube channel. Of course, this is not a full game – only the first task,

Homer travels through the city to buy ice cream at the Kwik-E-Mart. Reubs took the Springfield map from the original Hit & Run—it was already available on PC, reality fans—and recreated it, along with character models, collectibles, vehicles, and even from a Duff overhead balloon you’re flying.

Reubs’ process and his explanation of the levels can be seen in his video. To create this project, the model maker relied on a technical skill that allowed him to use artificial intelligence to improve textures, create basic lip synchronization for Homer, and implement an “interactive system.”

Fortunately, Joe McGinn, the original Hit & Run designer, expressed his support in the video commentary. He said, “This gets people to experience a new, contemporary, complete look. Good job! Although the fun is to be a remake fan, don’t get official approval from anyone with the control rights.”
